No Website? Build a Free One on Cloudflare

Why not wait?

You can’t measure a site that doesn’t exist. A small site that answers your customers’ real questions is enough to get into Google’s and Bing’s indexes, show up in Search Console, and start the loop. Polish comes later.

1. What the site needs

• Home: what you sell, who it’s for, where, a price range, and how to contact you.
• One page per priority question from your baseline and gap list. → Measure first
• About: who is behind the business, proof, contact details.
• sitemap.xml, a robots.txt that allows crawlers, and Organization / LocalBusiness / Product schema.
• Text in the HTML. Most AI crawlers don’t run JavaScript, so a site whose content only appears after JavaScript runs is invisible to them.¹ A plain static site avoids that.

2. Let your agent build it

Give your coding agent (Claude Code, Codex, Cursor or similar) your brand brief and question list, and ask for a static site. For example:

Build a fast static website for my business using plain HTML or Astro.
Pages: home, one page per question in the list below, about, contact.
Put all text in the HTML (no client-side rendering), add sitemap.xml,
robots.txt that allows search and AI crawlers, and Organization schema.
Output the built site to ./dist.

3. Put it live on Cloudflare (10 min)

Cloudflare’s Pages docs recommend starting new projects with Workers,² and Workers can serve a folder of static files directly.³

1. Create a free Cloudflare account and log in from your terminal:

npx wrangler login

2. Add a wrangler.jsonc file next to your dist folder:

3. Deploy:

npx wrangler deploy

Your site is live at a free yourbrand.<your-account>.workers.dev address.⁴ Requests to static assets are free and unlimited;⁵ the free plan allows 20,000 files per version and 25 MiB per file.⁶

4. Connect measurement

• Search Console: add a URL-prefix property for your workers.dev address and verify it with the HTML tag. → Search Console setup
• Bing Webmaster Tools: import from Search Console, submit the sitemap, turn on IndexNow. → Bing setup
• AI crawler access: open AI Crawl Control in Cloudflare and make sure Search crawlers are allowed.⁷ → Open the door to AI crawlers

5. Later: your own domain

When the basics work, buy a domain and connect it to the Worker from the Cloudflare dashboard. Then add a Domain property in Search Console (DNS verification is easy when your DNS is on Cloudflare) and update Bing.
